Install the extension

On the download page, pick your browser and click “Add to Chrome”, then confirm the permission prompt. No account needed.

Pin it to the toolbar

  1. Click the puzzle-piece (Extensions) icon in the top-right corner
  2. Find “Format as You Copy” and click its pin icon

First use

No setup required after install. Open any page, select some mixed CJK/Latin text, press ⌘C / Ctrl+C to copy, then paste it anywhere to see the formatted result.

CJK/Latin auto-spacing

Inserts a space wherever Chinese characters sit next to Latin letters or digits, matching standard Chinese typesetting conventions.

大家对vscode肯定都不陌生 → 大家对 vscode 肯定都不陌生

Pure English or pure Chinese paragraphs are untouched — the rule only fires at language boundaries.

Half-width → full-width punctuation

Converts half-width English punctuation to the matching full-width Chinese punctuation, while protecting decimals, URLs, and version numbers that shouldn't be converted.

价格是9.9元,别小看这个空格 → 价格是 9.9 元,别小看这个空格
⚠️ Protected casesA period between digits (like 9.9) or inside a URL (like example.com) is never converted.

Extract a full article as Markdown

Right-click any article page and choose “Extract current article as Markdown”, or use the shortcut ⌘⇧E / Ctrl+Shift+E to open a panel where you can:

  • Copy the article link (Markdown format)
  • Copy the article body (Markdown format)
  • Export it as a .md file

Cutting also formats

Not just copy — cutting (⌘X / Ctrl+X) text applies the same formatting rules, for both plain inputs and rich-text editors.

Troubleshooting

The formatting didn't change anything after copying?

Check whether the relevant rule is turned off in Settings, or whether the current site is on the exclusion list.

Text on a site can't be selected or copied?

Some sites block selection/copy — you can enable “Bypass copy restrictions” in Settings (off by default).
