Format as You Copy — Privacy Policy

Short version: this extension does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your data. All text formatting happens locally in your browser. Nothing you copy is ever sent to a server owned by us or anyone else.
What the extension can access, and why
- Clipboard (read/write) — used only at the moment you press Copy (or use the extension's shortcuts/context menu) to rewrite the text you just selected before it lands in your clipboard. The extension does not read your clipboard at any other time.
- Page content (all sites) — the extension injects a content script into pages so it can intercept the copy event and, for the optional "Article to Markdown" feature, read the article you explicitly ask it to extract. It does not run in the background scraping pages you have not interacted with.
- Storage (chrome.storage.sync) — stores only your own settings: which formatting options are on/off, your punctuation preferences, and the list of domains where you've disabled auto-format. This sync storage is scoped to your own Google account via Chrome's built-in sync and is never sent to us.
What we do NOT do
- No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind.
- No servers of ours are contacted by this extension — all formatting logic runs entirely inside your browser.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data, because we never collect it in the first place.
- We do not read or log your browsing history.
The "bypass copy restrictions" option
This is an opt-in, off-by-default setting. When enabled, it removes CSS/JS restrictions some sites use to block text selection or copying. It only changes how the current page behaves in your own browser — it does not transmit anything anywhere.

一句话版本：这个插件不收集、不上传、不出售你的任何数据。所有文本格式化都在你的浏览器本地完成，你复制的内容不会被发送到我们或任何第三方的服务器。
插件会用到哪些权限，用来做什么
- 剪贴板读写——仅在你按下复制（或使用插件的快捷键/右键菜单）的那一刻，用来把你选中的文字重新格式化后再写入剪贴板。除此之外插件不会在其它任何时候读取你的剪贴板。
- 网页内容（所有网站）——插件在页面里注入了一段脚本，用来监听复制事件；「文章转 Markdown」这个可选功能，也只在你主动点击提取时才会读取你指定的那篇文章。插件不会在后台偷偷抓取你没有操作过的页面。
- 同步存储（chrome.storage.sync）——只保存你自己的设置：各项格式化开关、标点转换偏好、按网站禁用自动格式化的名单。这个同步存储归属于你自己的 Google 账号（由 Chrome 自带的同步机制管理），不会被发送给我们。
我们不会做的事
- 不做任何形式的埋点、统计或使用行为追踪。
- 插件不会请求我们自己的任何服务器——所有格式化逻辑完全在你的浏览器本地运行。
- 不出售、不出租、不与第三方共享你的数据——因为我们从一开始就没有收集过。
- 不读取、不记录你的浏览历史。
「绕过网站禁止选中/复制限制」这个选项
这是一个默认关闭、需要手动开启的选项。开启后，它会解除部分网站用来阻止选中/复制文字的 CSS/JS 限制。它只改变当前页面在你自己浏览器里的行为，不会把任何内容发送到任何地方。
